MONTPELIER, Vt. -- It's expected a House-Senate conference committee will have to work out differences between Vermont's two legislative chambers over health care reform.
The House on Friday passed its own version of a bill passed earlier by the Senate that could move the state toward a Canadian-style single-payer health care system.
The House also added on some other provisions that would expand a state system set up to manage patients with chronic diseases toward becoming a model for managing a much broader portion of the health care delivery system.
The bill now goes back to the Senate. If the Senate does not agree with the House changes, the bill will be sent to a conference committee to work out the differences.
