Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission announces next public hearing in May

(Washington, DC) – Today the Financial Crisis Inquiry Commission (FCIC) announced the
Commission’s next public hearing titled “The Shadow Banking System” – the system of
financial institutions and markets operating outside of the regulatory structure for traditional
banking activities.

Hearing sessions will include, but are not limited to, witnesses from the following entities: Bear
Stearns, the U.S. Department of the Treasury, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, GE
Capital, PIMCO and State Street.

A full list of witnesses as well as additional hearing details will be announced closer to the
hearing.
