Hawaii Considering New Holidays, Parks And Schools To Honor Obama

Hawaiian state legislators are considering proposals to commemorate President Obama as the first Hawaiian president, including a state holiday on his birthday, designating his childhood home as a historic site, and other possibilities. "That sends the message to Hawai'i kids that it's true," said Democratic state Rep. Gil Keith-Agaran, who has proposed renaming two public schools after Obama. "It's nice to know that as we're growing up in America, everyone has the opportunity to be as successful as possible."

Why not? First Hawaiian President.

Come to Illinois sometime "Land of Lincoln" on our licence plates.
Every town has Lincoln this, that or what not (street, building etc)
You forget that Springfield is the State Capital since it is the biggest Lincoln museum (the whole town, his preserved home, and neighborhood, his law offices, the train depot, the Old state capital, his church, etc. etc. Lincoln statues everywhere. )
Reagan was from Illinois, some remote middle of the State little town. How many have been there?
Ok, not me, it's too small and remote, also not Reagan fan.
So big fat hairy deal if Hawaii want to do something. Hopefully Illinois will add some Obama museum or something to break up the "Lincoln" of Springfield, just some.

I am sure that Illnois will do honor Preident Obama since he lives there. Isn't it interesting that Texas doesn't name a street, store, and so on with the Gerbil's name?
