Anon,
I read your link on Kucinich. Kucinich was for single payer. Congress certainly didn't get a lot of support for single payer and yet it was hard for the Democrats to get thier own party to favor public option. Let's not forget Bluedog Mike Ross voted no on the bill and he was not in favor for public option. He wanted the current Medicare program to include in the healthcare bill to change the policy of Medicare to allow public under 65 age into the program. And that idea never went to the floor which was a ridiculous idea.
Again, I always said that this bill was not perfect and it was going to pass by a nail biter but Obama wanted to public option in the bill. When the bill is signed by Obama, this bill doesn't go into effect until 2013 and
I suspect that bill will be revised again. But, alot of lawmakers resisted on voting on a healthcare reform becuase many of them get campaign money and their pockets are being billed by the healthcare industry.
I am in favor of both single payer and public option but one of those was going to be in the final healthcare reform bill.
IT'S ALIVE!!!!! Now for the millions of Americans like me I'm grateful. Just think we know the names of the Law Makers who work for the Insurance Comapanies and don't represent their citizens who voted them in office.
