From CREW:
This latest release includes documents related to the Bush White House’s attempt to modify the email preservation system developed by the Clinton administration, and its multi-year effort to replace that system with a comprehensive Electronic Communications Records Management System (ECRMS). For reasons that remain unidentified, the Bush White House abandoned ECRMS in 2006 or 2007, even though it was ready to go live in August 2006.
This latest release also includes documents related to another program the Bush White House used in 2007 and 2008 to keep track of files of stored email, including problems discovered in testing it (OAP00026254 - OAP00026395).
The most recent release includes numerous documents related to the administration’s efforts to restore some of the missing email from disaster backup tapes. Nearly all of these documents, however, are marked “sensitive” meaning they are not subject to public disclosure. In addition, many documents related to other subjects also are marked “sensitive.”
