Sen. Sanders: Emergency help for seniors

Social Security Retirees would get a $250 one-time payment next year under a Sanders bill to make up for the lack of a cost-of-living adjustment. "We are in the midst of a major recession and we cannot forget about the serious economic stress that older Americans are living under,” he said. Sen. Bernie Sanders talks on the Senate floor in support of his legislation which would add an emergency benefit to senior citizens who will not see a cost-of-living adjustment in their Social Security checks this year for the first time since 1975. Read more about the Sanders-DeFazio bill here.
