WASILLA, Alaska - Sarah Palin plans to resign as governor of Alaska in a few weeks, KTUU-TV reported Friday.
Palin, the Republican vice presidential candidate in 2008, made the announcement at her home Friday morning, the station said.
Lt. Gov. Sean Parnell will take over at the end of the month, KTUU reported.

Update: Palin will resign effective July 25.
Update 2:Announcing her resignation, Palin assailed "political operatives" who "descended on Alaska" after her VP nomination and added that fighting ethics violations allegations ever since "hasn't been cheap." She also said she is looking at "a half a million dollars in legal bills," calling it "pretty insane."
Update 3: Calling into Fox News after the announcement, Bill Kristol said, "If I had to guess, we just saw the opening statement of the 2012 campaign."
Update 4: Palin invited Lt. Gov. to office on Wednesday. That is where he learned of Palin resigning as Governor.
Update 5: MSNBC's Andrea Mitchell reports: Talking to people who are very close to Sarah Palin, I have been told that she has told her supporters that she is out of politics, period. She is fed up with politics. She doesn’t like her life. She feels like she has to raise her family. She’s sick of the commute from Wasilla to the capital and she really does not want to run for higher office. This is not the case where she is stepping down in order to figure the way for a presidential run. In fact, she has told some of her biggest backers in the national Republican Party that they are free to choose other candidates for 2012.

Get your Starbuck cups and read all about it. Sister Sarah will resign as Governor and Uncle Ted will run for that office. Sister Sarah will be raising money for the Party and giving lap dances. Yes she still hopes to run for President in 2012 and will bet a lap dance on it. Bristol was a no show today as let's hope she's not having another baby.
Obviously more ugly things were about to come up on her and her family.
