NY parking tickets pile up on van with dead driver A man's decomposing body inside a minivan covered in parking tickets went undiscovered for weeks because the vehicle's windows were apparently tinted and ticketing officers don't normally search cars, police said Friday. The body was found in the backseat Wednesday when a city marshal tried to tow the vehicle from beneath an overpass on the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway, police said.

Former Detroit mayor skimps on restitution payment, faces probation violation charges

Detroit's former mayor, Kwame Kilpatrick, who resigned amid a text-messaging scandal and owes the city $1 million in restitution, could be facing more legal troubles for skimping on his court-ordered monthly payment to the city last month. Wayne County Prosecutor Kym Worthy has announced that she is filing a motion on Friday, asking a judge to address possible probation violations by Kilpatrick, who last month paid only $2,500 of his court-ordered $6,000 monthly payments toward the restitution.
