Obama speaks to Iranian people in video message

WASHINGTON — In an unprecedented video message released Friday on the celebration of the Persian new year, President Barack Obama speaks directly to the Iranian people and government, saying his administration "is now committed to diplomacy that addresses the full range of issues before us" and that that the process "will not be advanced by threats."

Obama describes a "common humanity that binds us together" despite three decades of strained relations and calls for "engagement that is honest and grounded in mutual respect."

"Eid-eh Shoma Mobarak," he says — Happy New Year.

While the United States "wants the Islamic Republic of Iran to take its rightful place in the community of nations" Obama says, "That place cannot be reached through terror or arms."

The video was distributed with Farsi subtitles to news outlets with a regional reach, including BBC Persia, Al Jazeera English, the Voice of America and others, and was also posted on the White House Web site and You Tube, aides said late Thursday.

Now the Supreme Leader, the Ayatollah Khamenei is having the vote looked into.
Don't we know what's it's like to have a Supreme leader? It has not been that long since the Ayatollah Darth was in the WH

Your right TGCN our Grand Ayatollah Cheney has left the building. I read about the Iran Supreme Leader and it's a smart wise man and knows what the deal is. Many in the US Media are clueless to how he thinks and runs his country. Notice how all the attention is made of the Iran President who is nothing but a spoke person. Now the Iran Supreme Leader head President Obama's speech and knows he's dealing with a US Leader that knows the culture of the Middle East and shows respect. Obama said he would work with any Iran President elected and he didn't take sides. The is killing the Republicans they don't know what to do or say. Funny how the Iran Supreme Leader is younger than Senator John McCain. He is married and has two daughters and a son all educated in many parts of the World included the US. His kids are grown and he knows the change has come.

The CIA chief, Baer that was in the middle East for so long said this Ayatollah is a sane rational man. Baer knows the middle east better than anyone in this country, and it's sounds like Obama listened and knows he does not need to worry about what figurehead is President in Iran. But that he needs to deal with the Supreme Leader.

But our ex-Supreme leader Ayatollah Darth was not.
