Guv Sanford's Wife: I Asked Him To Leave Two Weeks Ago

TPM:

Jenny Sanford, the First Lady of South Carolina, has released a statement in which she reveals that two weeks ago she asked her husband to leave, beginning a trial separation. It was agreed that the two would not be in touch during that period.

As a result, says Jenny Sanford, she did not know where he was over the last six days.

She adds: "I believe Mark has earned a chance to resurrect our marriage."

The full statement follows after the jump...

I would like to start by saying I love my husband and I believe I have put forth every effort possible to be the best wife I can be during our almost twenty years of marriage.

As well, for the last fifteen years my husband has been fully engaged in public service to the citizens and taxpayers of this state and I have faithfully supported him in those efforts to the best of my ability.

I have been and remain proud of his accomplishments and his service to this state.

I personally believe that the greatest legacy I will leave behind in this world is not the job I held on Wall Street, or the campaigns I managed for Mark, or the work I have done as First Lady or even the philanthropic activities in which I have been routinely engaged.

It's sad to see a woman has to use the bible in order to convince her husband to stay with her and the kids. Now Mrs. Stanford did come from wealth and with that ran her husband's campaign in Politics. Yes Mark married money and with that comes responsibility. Life was good as Mark with Jenny's help was looking to be President of the United States as Jenny would be First Lady. But Mark fell in love with a young beauty and when he needed freedom he went to Buenos Aires. This relationship has been on going for much over a year and Mark had to see his lover one last time. His wife knew his heart belong to someone else but with the bible in hand and the risk of losing his Govenor job she hopes that's enough to hold on until his term is over. You can bet when Mark Stanford is no longer Govenor of South Carolina he will haul butt to his lover in Buenos Aires as fast as he can. This is what happens when you buy a spouse.

Sad, this is becoming way too common, and more common in the GOP.
It seems like the people who try to live under too strict of rules, eg the GOP and all their rightousness, have to find middle grounds, and get off thier high horses and get down to reality.
