Fitz threatens to sue

In letters to Harper Collins over the last year and a half, Fitzgerald vehemently disputes assertions in Triple Cross, How Bin Laden's Master Spy Penetrated the CIA, the Green Berets, and the FBI, a 2006 book by Peter Lance involving, in part, Fitzgerald's work as a prosecutor in New York. Fitzgerald calls the book a "deliberate lie masquerading as truth."

Last week, Fitzgerald threatened to sue Harper if the publication of the book due out this month doesn't refrain from defaming him.

"The book lied about the facts and alleged that I deliberately misled courts and the public in ways that in part caused the deaths in the 1998 embassy bombing attacks and in the attacks of September 11, 2001," Fitzgerald said in an e-mail Monday.

Fitzgerald grew up in New York, where he made a name prosecuting terrorists. Lance's book accuses him and other top officials in 1996 of discrediting "a treasure trove of al-Qaida-related evidence," including information of a bin Laden plot to hijack a plane, according to a news release on the book. The book also accuses Fitzgerald of filing a false court affidavit involving terror investigations.
Read on.

If baby Fitz needs a Paralegal I'm availible to represent him. I'll ask Randall if he can get a DOJ lawyer who left to help me. Fitz might want to get use to more of this as others who need to make money will tell any story that sells.

Bil,

Is it wise for a US Attorney to sue?

Chicago Native,

I remembered PJF blog posting some time ago excerpts of the book "Triple Cross." The author gave some serious accusation of Fitz hiding the truth in the 1993 embassy bombing. Fitz was silenced on the issue given the fact that Fitz's USA jobs was in limbo. Now that he has been re-appointed as USA, Fitz has every right to sue as person who was the Assistant USA in NY in that investigation. He will probably sue for defamation of character and providing false information on his investigation.

That book and this issue have been hanging over Fitz's head. And it needs to be resolved before this issue is blown up largely and distorted in the media.

What kind of an alleged idiot calls someone who cannot stand lies a liar? What kind of an alleged idiot editor lets that slide without editing? What kind of an alleged idiot publisher puts it in print? I am not one for frivolous lawsuits but if this is all true, I hope Fitz sues them into the stone age.

Refresh the cat's memory: Which idiot publisher was going to publish "If I Did It" by OJ?

By frivolous lawsuits, the cat meant things like the McDonald's coffee spill.
