TPM:
As The Hill reported late last night, House Republicans plan to vote as a bloc against the Iraq-Afghanistan war funding bill, due to included funding for the International Monetary Fund. Obviously, this is a big change for the party that routinely attacked then-Sen. Obama in last year's campaign for allegedly voting to de-fund the troops when he voted against a funding bill that didn't include a timetable for withdrawal.
But there is a clear distinction between saying you support the troops and backing up those claims with genuine action. Senator Barack Obama (D-IL) once said "we shouldn't play chicken with our troops" when it comes to funding our troops in harm's way, and his colleague Senator Hillary Clinton (D-NY) urged General Petraeus at the start of the surge to request "every possible piece of equipment and resource necessary" to keep our troops safe. These words turned into little more than empty rhetoric when both proceeded to vote against funding our troops last year.Read more »

I still can't believe Diebold keeps electing him LOL
I've been saying it for 7 years and now the Republicans have proven me right all along. We invaded Iraq and had thousands of soldiers killed and thousands injured and no one cared. We have seen Walter Reed Hospital treat our soldiers like dirt, while giving the best care to foreign citizens brough to the US for surgery. We've seen our troops denied benefits, jobs, homes and other services. While lip service is given of " We support our troops" yes flags outside homes fly, stickers on cars and that's about it. Now for 7 years Bush/Cheney used our troops to run the US debt to 11 trillion dollars and the famous blank check by the 109th Congress. Now with a new President the same Law Makers and Americans who are doing their best to make sure President Obama fails are willing to say no to our troops. No wonder young people don't want to join the US Military as everyone is lying. Now Americans and Law Makers saw no problem giving Iraq Govenment 1 trillion dollars but have a big problem with giving 1 trillion for US citizens to have health care. Law Makers quickly got their big raise in salary but are against helping Americans who have to pay taxes. Gays are denied rights but better pay their taxes so the Law Makers can get their pay checks and healthe coverage. Looks like President Obama is the only Law Maker working for the American people the rest of these people are working for themselves. Until Americans stand up and stop this nothing will change. Our troops are still dying in Iraq and Afghanistan by not only the enemy but by faulty contract work which we paid for. Good news is the World is watching the US and knows we are more then broke we're stupid an lie to ourselves.
