Raw Story:
Picking up their angle and running with it Thursday night was Comedy Central host Stephen Colbert, who invited perhaps the best possible fly rights spokesman alive: actor Jeff Goldblum, star of the 1986 David Cronenberg horror film The Fly .
“All they want is to be loved,” he pleaded. “And to feed on our waste. So, instead-a swatting them with our hands, we should be holding them in our hearts. Instead of spraying them with Raid, we should be showering them with affection. Because, you never know. Someone who started out as something as simple as a fly could go on to such great things as Jurassic Park, Independence Day and Law and Order: Criminal Intent, Sundays at 9 on USA.”
Goldblum added: “Mr. President! Apologize for this act of brutal violence! And while you’re at it, apologize to Sarah Palin for that joke that Letterman told … There can never be enough apologies.”
