FCC fine for singer Janet Jackson nipple exposure still unresolved

And how much time and money are we going to waste over a nipple??? There are more important things in this country.

Talkleft:

Janet Jackson's nipple, exposed for 9/16 of a second during the 2004 Superbowl halftime show, is still in the news. And the FCC is 2-for-2 in the Supreme Court this term.

Last week, the Supreme Court decided that the FCC did not act arbitrarily when it revised its "indecency" policy in 2004. The Court upheld the FCC's decision to sanction the fleeting and singular utterance of a naughty word, even one blurted unexpectedly during a live broadcast.

Today [Monday] the Court vacated a Third Circuit decision that overturned the FCC's $550,000 fine against CBS for broadcasting a glimpse of Janet Jackson's nipple. The one sentence order does not decide whether the Third Circuit's decision was right or wrong, but invites the lower court to reconsider its decision in light of last week's ruling.

These charges were filed to hurt Janet and her brother and no other reason. I watched a lady expose her breast on TV, one on underwear, nake lady, curse words, middle finger, racist comments and yet no problem. Oprah had a show as a doctor showed woman how to check their breast for cancer. Now the nurse had no problem with showing her breast or the doctor examinging her live on TV. Not one person filed a complaint about a breast being shown.

Jackie, Oprah didn't have the bad singing of Justin Timberlake to go with the nurse.

Timberlake should be fined for bad singing. ;-)

Well, that honor goes to Denise Richards, who should never, ever, ever sing "Take Me Out to the Ballgame." That made my ears bleed.

It's plain ridiculous for some of the public to claim Janet's exposed nipple gave a shock to their system. Since others were in horror of Janet's wardrobe malfunction, can I claim that I was almost hospitalized because of Boner's cow gas statement? ;-)
