President Barack Obama plans to participate in town hall-style meetings next week in two cities that have struggled amid the crumbling economy.
White House spokesman Robert Gibbs on Friday said Obama plans to visit Elkhart, Ind., on Monday to tell residents what his $900 billion stimulus plan would mean for them.
The president also plans a Tuesday trip to Fort Myers, Fla., to try to sell his economic recovery plan, which is being delayed in Congress as lawmakers argue about its price and its priorities.
Indiana's Elkhart-Goshen region saw its unemployment rate soar to 15.3 percent in December.
In Florida's Fort Myers, unemployment has climbed to 10 percent.

hmm I thought Fort Myers was a retirement town, why the high unemployment? Less people retiring to Florida, thus residents dying off and less people to buy things?
Maybe less people being able to afford to visit thier retired relatives means less business down there?
As none of the analysis or Law Makers have read the Obama Stimulus Bill it makes sence the public is confused. It's open for anyone to read and what's interesting is the allotted amount for each State the money goes directly to the department it for. The Govenor's don't get the money to hand out. Example education. Well the money goes directly to eduation and is accountable for each dime spent. Interesting this hasn't happen before. Bush's stimulus bill with pork went to the State Govenors to give out which never made it as most was used for other things. I guess what President Obama is doing is what our parents made us do when we were young. Don't let someone tell you something you can read for yourself.
