We just announced this morning [Thursday] that President-elect Obama will host a Commander-in-Chief’s Ball on the night of January 20th in honor of our country’s brave men and women in uniform. Those invited will include wounded warriors (Purple Heart recipients), families of fallen heroes, and spouses of deployed military.
The first Commander-in-Chief’s Ball, hosted by President Bush, took place in 2005 to pay tribute to the United States active duty and reserve military. President-elect Obama is thrilled to carry on the tradition in 2009 in recognition of the courage and sacrifice of our troops.
He said:
It is a privilege to honor our men and women in uniform during our inaugural festivities by continuing the tradition of the Commander-in-Chief’s Ball. Our troops represent the best America has to offer, and without their dedication and sacrifice we would not be able to enjoy the freedoms that we are coming together to celebrate on January 20th. They deserve our thanks and our gratitude. Michelle and I look forward to attending the Commander-in-Chief’s Ball and sharing this special evening with representatives of our armed forces.

That's nice to see our troops have a Commander-in-Chief who thinks of them first. It's been a long 8 years and a dictatorship and it all comes to an end Jan. 20th. Our troops in Iraq are cheering while the Generals are mad they wanted McCain/Palin to continue the big kick backs the Generals and Commanders are getting from the White House.
