Burris sues for Senate seat

Democrat Roland Burris went to the Illinois Supreme Court today to fight to be seated in the U.S. Senate.

Burris, appointed by disgraced Gov. Rod Blagojevich on Tuesday to the seat once held by President-elect Barack Obama, asked the justices to force Illinois Secretary of State Jesse White to co-sign Blagojevich's proclamation that Burris is the state's new senator.

"There is a great and urgent interest of the people of the state of Illinois in being fully represented before the United States Senate," the Burris petition said.

Burris maintained state law "imposes an unconditional obligation on the secretary of state" to perform "merely a ministerial" role that does not leave "any discretion whatsoever" to block or impede the action.

The legal action came after Blagojevich attempted today to file his official proclamation, but White's office refused to take it.

White's action may be little more than symbolic, but it could provide the U.S. Senate just enough reason to stand up against seating Burris, a Democrat who previously served as the state's attorney general and comptroller. U.S. Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) called White today to "thank him for his strong position on this important matter," White spokesman Henry Haupt said.

This is just part of the three, dozen ring political circus going on in this state.

Burris gave donations to the Toddler and Beavers, so he's insane.

I'm new to the names in this G-Rod problem. Except for baby Fitz and Randall. Now I've been around along time and Burris might be as some have said a good man but even good men have a price. At 71 years old time isn't on Mr. Burris's side to climb up. He wasn't G-Rod's first choice but he was the one who took the offer.

I remember while visiting NYCity. A man on the street offered me a rolax watch for 10 dollars. It looked real and he said it was real but he needed only 10 dollars because he needed to eat. One is it real and he's telling the truth? Two is it real but stolen? Three is it fake and I'm being taken for a fool?
I pick number 3 and I'm the winner.

Burris is a lawyer and a smart man who knew what he was doing. He looked at a crook and brought the rolax watch knowing it was fake but hoping to get over. He might have been picked anyway if he waited for an honest request. Now as my GrandMother said you are who you hang around with and right now Burris has a new best friend name G-Rod. In future quest Burris will be remembered by the speech G-Rod gave to the World Press. G-Rod will go down but he will be taking some good people with him. The smart person was the man who turned down G-Rod's offer.
