Now that's what I call this chutzpah:
12:59 pm - Secretary of State Jesse White’s office says they will not certify the appointment. Certification is required to be seated in the Senate.
* 11:30 am - So much for spending quiet time on the beach. Sources say that Gov. Blagojevich will appoint Roland Burris to the vacant US Senate seat.
Secretary of State Jesse White has said he wouldn’t sign off on any Blagojevich appointment, as is required, but his spokesman could not be reached. I’ll let you know what I hear.

Sen. Dick Durbin (D-IL) said this month. Burris reportedly “stepped up his efforts to win the governor’s support” in the days following Blagojevich’s arrest.
Update: Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) views Burris as "unacceptable," an aide told Politico.
Update 2:Progress Illinois notes that when news broke of Blagojevich's improprieties, Burris condemned the governor's actions as "pretty appalling" and "just reprehensible."

Actually Roland Burris as AG was good. What is surprising most of us is why Roland would agree to this.
I have to agree with Obama. Blago should not be appointing a Senate seat to anyone from his criminal complaint and the on-going investigation of Blago-Rezko probe. Blago probe goes more beyond the selling of Obama seat. Also, I don't hear the media following an individual mentioned in the criminal complaint [I believe that he is Individual D in which I posted a couple of weeks ago on blog] who asking for immunity from the USA office. So, I believe that there is more evidence that Fitz and the Feds found that will lead to Blago being indicted. If so, then what Lt. Gov Quinn said may come true: Blago will be gone by Lincoln's birthday.
