To funny Sarah/the Plummer now that's a match for horror. I'll be glad when Bush is gone, I wish he'd leave tomorrow. Sarah looked like she knows it's over for her not only the as VP but in Alaska.

Rumor has it she does not want to go back to Alaska, she has other aspirations....

Anyhow, there was no way any manipulations could have been done with voting, Obama blew McCain away 2 to 1. There were no iffy states, and even the ones' that are too close to call this morning won't matter for McCain.

It was nice that we knew right away who our President will be, "W" gave Barak and his family an invitation to the WH.

Wow what a mess Obama has ahead of him, what an incredible mess.
With such a mess the people made the right choice, gramps and the moose/polar bear shooter could not have handled it.

McCain was smart to concede early so things can get underway in Grant Park in Chicago.

Both candidates took off the gloves when they made their speeches last night and talked well about their opponent.

Many candidates in the City, County and State chose to be in Grant Park instead of at their own victory party.

Many people finally got a good nights sleep after this election.

I had tears in my eyes last night. It was wonderful.
I was moved by the span of history Barack spoke to, and we talked a lot about how it has only been 40 years since 1968 and how much has changed since then.

I was very glad that John McCain gave a gracious important and what I hope will be a memorable speech about racism and hushed the people who were booing Obama.

I guess Joe Biden was right about new crises and threats as I woke up to hear that Russia is moving missiles to the Polish/Lithuanian border, to counteract the missiles that Bush put in Poland. They are taking advantage of this lull to move. If that's not sending the tanks, it's close. Bush and Wall Street damaged our relations witht he former Soviet Union badly and I pray Obama can turn that around.

Barack must be tremendously exhausted. I kept willing him to smile more, which he did a couple of times. But he had a very dead serious facial expression, compared to grinning Joe Biden.

Friends with me urged me to change the channel when Blago's face came on--but this morning he appoints the successor to Obama's Senate seat. I sincerely hope he chooses Jesse Jackson's son, whose seriousness and ability have impressed me.

Will Congressman Rahm Emmanuel actually become Barack's Chief of Staff? I actually thought that was something floated by the opposition. Then if he accepts, I assume Blago will appoint someone to fill his Congressional seat. Any ideas?

I can't wait to see who he appoints as Attorney General to straighten out the mess over at the Justice Department after Gonzo and Muskrat.
I hope he finds someone with uncompromising integrity

I also want to take this moment to thank SP Biloxi for this excellent website and for the great contributors, especially for their humor and hope which has kept me going during these last dreadful years of this horrible Bush Administration. Only 76 more days to go. (I just knew you'd post that number prominently this morning.) Thanks again with all my heart.

MS in Indiana

Well, thank you MS for your kind thoughts. We all dealt with 8 years of tyranny under the Bush Administration. As Barack said, all things are possible. Barack and all of us have to roll our sleeves up because this is a mess that Bush will leave behind come January. I am glad that we, American people, took our country and White House back!

Barack's mother and grandmother were in spirit with Barack when he took that podium to speak to the public as now the new elected President. When you mention how Barack didn't smile, we don't know what when through his mind. Maybe thinking about his grandmother who passed away on Sunday or his mother, or how much suffering was done to the American pepole by Bush Administration.

Today is a new day. And work needs to be done. McCain's speech was gracious as he has to work with Barack and heal his party from this bruised election. This is a defining moment in history but much work needs to be done.

Correction, Chicago Native. This is our mess not just Obama regardless if you voted for Bush or not. Remember all of us have to roll up our sleeves and not just simply wait for Obama to clean up this mess come January. As long as Obama has the Clinton plan and strong army in his cabinet, this country will turn around. The key is gaining back the trust and relationships from the world leaders and allies.

Yes, the mess is ours to clean up...thanks republicans. You screw up badly, while calling the rest of us unAmerican...Barack Obama's election saved the American way.
