I knew this would come back to bite the Mittster..
Crooks and Liars:
I guess Lou Dobbs and Co. are giving up their populist "we're for the working class" pose, because yesterday Republican Rep. Darrell Issa appeared on the Dobbs program (with Kitty Pilgrim sitting in) to pile on after Mitt Romney's NYT op-ed telling Detroit to Suck. On. This.
ISSA: I think Mitt's right on. And you know, being the son of a man who turned Rambler/AMC around, he knows how hard it is to reinvent a company from one that isn't making good cars and not making competitive cars to one that can, in fact, survive.
Sure. Maybe that would explain why, as Jon Perr points out, Mitt Romney was all for doing whatever it takes to save Detroit back when he was running against John McCain in the Republican primary:
"I want to bring Michigan back. I am not willing to sit back and say 'too bad for Michigan, too bad for the car industry, too bad for the people who lost their jobs, they are gone forever.' I will not rest when I am president of the United States until Michigan is brought back."
He also told Michiganders:
"This state needs someone who cares about this state more than one day a year."

and too bad for the unions. Reagan started busting them and the GOP CEO's finished the job. Sadly, I know many GM employees who voted republican...
Yes, I heard they were blaming the unions on a lot of their problems. But if the companies did well the CEOs would reap all the benefits. When companies do bad you blame the workers, when companies do well it's "all because of the CEOs" hmm, you would think it should be the other way around?
What is being said is Japanese cars are doing so well and they don't need unions because they treat their employees so well. Just thought I would throw that out there since that is what I heard from the meeting, so they are starting the "if we get rid of the union..."
Also there are more business people saying the car industry affects more than two million US jobs because of all the suppliers for parts, tires, batteries, wiper blades, glass etc, etc, etc. And this will have more devastation then we realize if they do not get bailed out.
Now the voters of Michigan know Mitt out right lied for a vote only. He used the people by even using his Father's name and saying he would help them. Now if the US can give 150 billion dollars to AIG who is wasting the money on bonues and parties what about the Auto Industry with millions of workers. All they have to do is put some ground rules. Notice no rules were given to Goldman Sachs or other friends of Hank Paulson as they got billions.
"I know many GM employees who voted republican..."
