Ten Chase banks hit with letter threats Ten branches of Chase bank in Colorado and Oklahoma received threatening letters on Monday, some containing a harmless white powder. An FBI spokeswoman said seven banks in the Denver area got letters, along with three in Oklahoma. "Based on our investigation, the suspicious substance appears to be non-hazardous," FBI spokeswoman Kathy Wright said. She did not identify the powder or elaborate on the nature of the threat.

US ambassador defends deal to stay Iraq for three years The US ambassador to Baghdad [Ryan Crocker] was yesterday forced to defend a controversial pact that would prolong its military operations in Iraq to 2011. A putative deal had been placed before Iraq's cabinet but, in a sign that opposition is growing to a prolonged American presence, the largest political faction issued a statement demanding additional revisions... American concessions on the ability of Iraqi courts to try US soldiers do not appear to have gone far enough to assuage nationalist resentment.

U.S. gives Iraq $13 million to fix looted museum The U.S. government has announced a $13 million grant mainly to help refurbish Iraq's National Museum which was looted [by US barbarians] in the aftermath of the U.S.-led invasion in 2003, U.S. officials said Monday. U.S. Assistant Secretary of State for Educational and Cultural Affairs Goli Ameri announced the project at a news conference with Iraqi officials, held inside the dilapidated museum building which is still closed to the public.

Obama Assembles U.S.'s 'Largest Law Firm' to Monitor Election Democrats accused Republicans of trying to improperly disqualify voters. In Florida, Democratic lawyer Charles H. Lichtman has assembled almost 5,000 lawyers to monitor precincts, assist voters turned away at the polls and litigate any disputes that can't be resolved out of court. "On Election Day, I will be managing the largest law firm in the country, albeit for one day,'' said Lichtman, a Fort Lauderdale corporate lawyer and veteran of the five-week recount after the 2000 coup d'etat when the Supreme Court eventually delivered the presidency to George W. Bush.

Early Voting off to Rough Start (FL) Reports have been coming in from all over the city that indicate problems in some of the early voting locations. The problems stem from ballot-reading machines not working. Supervisor of Elections Jerry Holland tells First Coast News that by early afternoon, 7 of the 15 machines had experienced problems with their optical scan readers. Those machines were indicating the ballot was too long. Officials measured the ballots, and they are the regulation length, 17 inches, so the manufacturer needs to address the problem.

Biden to Supporters: "Gird Your Loins," For the Next President "It's Like Cleaning Augean Stables" ABC News: Sen. Joe Biden, D-Del., on Sunday guaranteed that if elected, Sen. Barack Obama., D-Ill., will be tested by an international crisis within his first six months in power and he will need supporters to stand by him as he makes tough, and possibly unpopular, decisions. "Mark my words," the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday. "It will not be six months before the world tests Barack Obama like they did John Kennedy... Remember I said it standing here if you don't remember anything else I said. Watch, we're gonna have an international crisis, a generated crisis, to test the mettle of this guy." Not only will the next administration have to deal with foreign affairs issues, Biden warned, but also with the current economic crisis. "Gird your loins," Biden told the crowd. "We're gonna win with your help, God willing, we're gonna win, but this is not gonna be an easy ride. This president, the next president, is gonna be left with the most significant task. It's like cleaning the Augean stables, man."

Dead crow sparks bird flu fears in HK A house crow found dead in Hong Kong has tested positive for the deadly H5N1 bird flu virus. An agriculture official says the crow was found dead in a park in October and tests showed it was carrying the virus.

Also that is smart of Obama to get the election monitored, you really have to wonder how W got into office twice

speaking of that, I heard someone who was a conservative review W, and she said....you are going to love this one Bil, "they did not have any of his positives, or accomplishments in the movie"

OK the big question is what are his accomplishments? and positives?
