RNC appears to shell out $150K for Palin fashion
The Republican National Committee appears to have spent more than $150,000 to clothe and accessorize vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin and her family since her surprise pick by John McCain in late August.
According to financial disclosure records, the accessorizing began in early September and included bills from Saks Fifth Avenue in St. Louis and New York for a combined $49,425.74.
The records also document a couple of big-time shopping trips to Neiman Marcus in Minneapolis, including one $75,062.63 spree in early September.
The RNC also spent $4,716.49 on hair and makeup through September after reporting no such costs in August.
Politico asked the McCain campaign for comment, explicitly noting the $150,000 in expenses for department store shopping and makeup consultation that were incurred immediately after Palin’s announcement. Pre-September reports do not include similar costs.
Read on.
And this:
AP: Palin Made Habit Of Billing State For Children's Travel Expenses Gov. Palin regularly took her children on trips -- including four nights in a posh hotel overlooking Central Park -- despite state law limiting expenses to official state business.

ah, come on, every girl needs to accessorize.
Our country is in a recession millions are losing their jobs, homes and life savings. Hank Paulson is holding on to 700 billion dollars to give to friends and now the taxpayers are paying for Sarah's wardrobe and all expense paid vacation for her and her Family. We dress the kids and even the First Dude. No Motel 6 for Sarah it's the 2000 dollar a night Hotel with the works. This is what Sarah bills her citizens in Alaska so this is normal for her. I guess as a family is put out of their home they can rest assure Sarah got that 5000 jacket and Piper got that 3000 scarf.
From what I have been hearing her and the first dude could afford to cloth themselves and their family, if they can't we have to look into her finacial skills.
10K would have been way over the top for hair and wardrobe, but $150 is beyond outrageous.
Of course Cindy McCain wears outfits that are more than the average price of American homes, so she is way out there. And really, I mean really, these women don't look better than if they went to JCPenny or Kohl's, and most of America can't tell a designer dress from one bought at the mall.
It just goes to shoe you the excess and extravagance tolerated by the GOP, and is the norm. No we don't need more of the same.\
And will Laura Bush again wear another 7K? 9K? dress( I can't remember the exact price, but it was ridiculous) to a Christmas party that she will have to change out of because two more guests had the same one on? Ladies spend 10% if that on a dress (which is still outrageous) and give the rest to research, the poor or some good cause.
Speaking of Christmas, I wonder what extravagance is going to happen at the WH? Every year they have been way over the top during this war years, ecomomic years. Can't wait to see the menu, was some kind of gravy stew on it last year with gold trimmed dog cookies?
Oh by the way rumor has it the 2008 WH Christmas theme will be an old fashioned Christmas...so people will think of the good old days before the Gerbil and Darth.
