MADISON, Wis. (AP) - A 20-year-old college student says he's taking off the fall semester so he can work to get Senator Barack Obama elected president.
UW-Madison junior Bryon Eagon says his sacrifice is worth it because he could be part of a historic presidential campaign.
Eagon is the state coordinator for Students for Barack Obama. He got involved in the campaign as an organizer on the UW-Madison campus last year. The pro-Obama student group there became 1 of the largest and most active in the nation.
Eagon says he is working to get similar groups going at campuses statewide as students return for the fall semester.
Wisconsin's turnout among voters under 30 was the second highest in the nation in the 2004 presidential election, but Eagon says he still sees room to improve.
