More shakeup in Office of Special Counsel.

From POGO:

We just learned that Jim Mitchell has been terminated from the Office of Special Counsel (OSC). Mitchell was recently named Chief of Staff AND Director of Communications following the resignation of Deputy Special Counsel Jim Byrne. There was no reason given for Mitchell's termination.

The loss of one of the last sane managers at OSC is not good news for anyone. By all accounts, Mitchell has taken an impossible situation--a grand jury investigation into OSC Director Scott Bloch, FBI raids of Bloch's home and the OSC offices, Bloch's retaliation against and undermining of OSC staff and mission, and Congressional (and public interest groups) calling for Bloch's resignation, not to mention staff flight and chronic understaffing--and tried to steer the sinking ship with a genuine belief in the mission of the organization.
