If only we can learn from this; Open thread.

(Reuters) Silver medallist Natalia Paderina (L) of Russia and bronze medallist Nino Salukvadze of Georgia pose after the women's 10m air pistol shooting competition at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games August 10, 2008.

Also, a lesson to be learned: Be careful what you say. A quote from France world record holder Alain Bernard: "I'm favorite and we'll smash U.S."

And then he said this: "We want to be the best. It will be one of the toughest races for Michael [Phelps] to win. The world record will be in danger." Well, team USA stunned France and left the team speechless. That was on the most awesome events to watch.

Congrats to the entire relay team!

Garrett Weber-Gale, left, and Michael Phelps of the U.S. react as 400-meter relay teammate Jason Lezak of Irvine ran down then world-record holder Alain Bernard of France in the final few meters and out-touched him at the wall for the gold medal.

your so right SPB be careful what you say. I did love the peace between the Russian/Georgian ladies. Sometimes I just wish as much pride would be given to those who tried and lost as to those who win.
