In an
email dated 6/19/2007, former acting State Police Superintendent Preston Felton wrote an email to Gary Berwick, the former state police inspector who committed suicide in May, who in his suicide note denied involvement in any effort to “smear” anyone.

On July 3, 2007 in the wake of the TU’s report about Sen. Joseph Bruno’s use of aircraft, the former Senate Majority Leader explained that he used state police transportation, in part, because he was the target of threats.

Felton’s email to Berwick was weeks before the TU’s story was released and it isn’t immediately clear what Berwick found (we haven’t found any other emails to or from Berwick, or any other documents tying Berwick to the investigation).

According to various news reports, Berwick was preoccupied with the probes into the State Police around the time of his death.

As a reminder: There was investigation into both NY Senate leader Bruno's travel and Bruno's allegation that then Governor Elliot Spitzer used State Police to spy on him.

On July 23, 2007, NY State Attorney General Andrew Cuomo dismissed any wrongdoings into Spitzer's administration for ordering the State Police to track Bruno's travel records, particularly his use of a state helicopter.

The Republican party in New York is so corrupt it has been the center of crime since Bush/Cheney took the White House. The elected Officials have had a free for all with crime and those who didn't go along have to either keep their mouths shut or pay the price with their lives. These are big crimes and alot of officials would go to jail.
