Pataki Raising Cash For Deceased Trooper Gary Berwick's Family

Former Gov. George Pataki and his wife, Libby, are hosting a June 18 benefit in Albany to raise money for the family of Gary Berwick, the State Police trooper and onetime head of Pataki's security detail who committed suicide last month amidst multiple investigations into the law enforcement agency.

"The Patakis are very much feeling for the Berwick family right now and wanted to do something for them," said Pataki spokesman Dave Catalfamo.

"Gary was in their home for the better part of 10 years. As opposed to the previous governor, Pataki had an excellent relationship with his detail. He learned to speak Spanish from them. Gary spent more time with the governor's kids early on than the governor did."

The governor delivered the eulogy at Berwick's funeral, during which he stressed his support for the so-called "long gray line."

He has also made numerous public statements rejecting allegations that there was a "rouge" unit in the State Police headed by his old friend and security detail head, retired State Police Col. Dan Wiese.

"“I can assure you that there was none of these rogue units or political spying that anybody in my administration authorized, approved of, knew of. It just did not happen,” Pataki told Capital news 9's Brian Taffe last month.

Guilt makes people do strange things. Pataki didn't give Berwick the time of day until he killed himself or the secrets he was scared to let out. Yes those secret crimes he helped with Pakaki and the things he saw and did to cover them up. Why do guilty people think money can buy their forgiveness. Here's an Office with a family that would rather have him back then the blood money given by Pakaki. Look Pakaki has stolen so much money from New York he has enough to give to each citizen. None of the 9/11 money went to the police/firemen for their health care it all went in the pockets of the Mayor and Governor. Blood money is Pakaki's answer, he might have to keep shelling out more as this case comes to light.
