OJJDP scandal: Best Friends Foundation

• The lowest averages among the grant winners were for the golf foundation, with an 82, and the Washington-based Best Friends Foundation, with 79.5. Best Friends President Elayne Bennett – wife of Bill Bennett, a cabinet member under the first President Bush – did not return calls to discuss the grant.

Scott Peterson, a former DOJ employee and whistleblower said this about Flores according to WSJ blog site:

Instead, said Peterson, Flores favors programs that promote sexual abstinence. Indeed, a Washington, D.C., program, Best Friends, that promotes abstinences was awarded $1.1 million by Flores even though it ranked 53rd on a list of 104 applicants.

And Peterson said this piece of information which violates the Civil Rights Act of 1964. From the same WSJ blog (see above link):

Scott Peterson also told ABC that Flores holds daily prayer sessions in the DOJ offices and frowns on giving grant money to organizations that provide sex education or condoms to teenagers.

Prayer sessions in the workplace and on company time. Amazing. And I wonder if there will be any discrimination filings in the DOJ workplace anytime soon from former and current employees under Flores. Holding religious practices in the workplace and using one's religious beliefs in one's everyday office task and decision making are a definite no-no...

That Dept. just gave away money to Bush Friends as they passed some of the stolen money to the campaigns. Now look at what's happen. Our kids have no programs and Rich men are playing golf with the money that was for kids.
