Detroit Mayor's Wife, Parents Named On Prosecutor's Witness List.

Kwame is hosed..
DETROIT -- The Wayne County Prosecutor's office has released its list of potential witnesses for the September preliminary examination for Detroit Mayor Kwame Kilpatrick and his former chief of staff Christine Beatty. Both are charged with perjury and obstruction of justice.
Defense Attorney James Thomas told the Detroit Free Press that the list of 57 potential witnesses was filed Wednesday in the 36th District Court. Thomas told the paper the roster of witnesses is more of a "prosecutor's wish list" than a precise directory of people who are expected to be called to the witness stand.
The witness list includes Kilpatrick's wife, Carlita Kilpatrick, his parents, U.S. Rep. Carolyn Cheeks Kilpatrick and Bernard Kilpatrick.
The "prosecutor's wish list" pulls many of the characters from last year's whistle-blower trial that Kilpatrick settled for $8.4 million to keep secret sexually-charged text messages between him and Beatty from being exposed.

The messages released earlier this year reveal Kilpatrick and Beatty lied under oath during the whistle-blower trial about their romantic affair and mislead jurors about their reasoning for firing Deputy Police Chief Gary Brown and officer Harold Nelthrope.
Brown and Nelthrope, who sued the city, claiming they were fired for looking into the mayor's activities, are named on the list. Wayne County Circuit Judge Michael Callahan, who oversaw the whistle-blower trial, is also on the list. As are Kilpatrick's attorneys during the trial.
Former police Chief Jerry Oliver and current police chief Ella Bully-Cummings, the mayor's cousin, city Personnel Director Patricia Peoples and close friend and associate Bobby Ferguson are named on the "wish list."
Members of the embattled city council, such as Council President Ken Cockrel Jr. and City Councilman Kwame Kenyatta are on the list. Also, Free Press reporter Jim Schaefer is expected to be called.

More on the story.

It sounds like something Old Elmore Leonard would be interested in as a subject as I believe he was born in Detroit. He often writes about the not very bright type of person, usually an ex-con who thinks he can get away with a crime, who messes it up and then messes up the cover-up.
