Drudge Uses Sensationalist Headline To Distort Report On Consequences Of Climate Change
In the Center For American Progress Action Fund’s Progress Report yesterday, the Wonk Room’s Brad Johnson wrote that “the evidence for the consequences of global warming is
appearing with alarming frequency.” Citing the recent flurry of destructive storms, floods, heat waves, and droughts that have hit the U.S., Johnson argued that “the media are strangely reluctant to discuss severe weather events in the context of climate change.”

Ignoring the lion’s share of Johnson’s argument, the Drudge Report linked to the piece under the headline, “Deaths called ‘consequence of global warming’…“:

Rove ‘talks fairly regularly’ with top McCain staffers.
Now, in a new article not yet posted online, National Journal’s Peter Stone reveals that Rove “talks periodically” with McCain’s chief political strategist, Charlie Black, while also speaking “fairly regularly” with other top staffers like Nicole Wallace and Steve Schmidt:

“Generally speaking, Rove’s advice is action-oriented and useful,” said another senior consultant to the McCain camp. “It’s always well received.” This McCain adviser noted that Rove talks periodically to Black and a few other top campaign aides on several key matters. “It can be policy ideas, messaging ideas, fundraising prospects, or people who need calls from someone in the campaign.” Rove is “part of the information network that the campaign has,” this adviser said, adding that Rove talks fairly regularly to such key people as Wayne Berman, a major fundraiser for McCain; Nicolle Wallace, a communications adviser; and Steve Schmidt, a senior aide.

Stone, who has previously reported that Rove is “up to his eyeballs” in the coordination of outside political groups supporting Republicans, also reports that Rove is paid “mid-six figures” to provide assistance to the conservative attack group Freedom’s Watch.

Would ‘foreigners’ accept a black president?
The WaPo’s Anne Applebaum suggested this week that this might not be as easy as we’d like, because, as she put it, “foreigners” might not “accept a black American president.”

I realize that this, too, may seem like a rather offensive question, particularly if one believes everything that one reads in newspapers…. But has Europe changed? And have Asia and the Middle East changed? I hate to put it so crudely, but — European newspaper reporting to the contrary — racism is not unique to the United States. The situation of ethnic minorities in Europe and Asia is completely different from that in the United States, and in many ways our societies aren’t comparable: Most nonwhite inhabitants of European societies are recent immigrants, not descendants of former slaves, and the particular circumstances of, say, the black Christian population in Arab-dominated Sudan are unique.

Now since the Leaders of the World are of all colors for example Mandela was President and no question of his color. We have woman Presidents even when the US wouldn't have a qualified woman as President. It's the US that has racist problems. I suggest the GOP look to something else to try to trick the American people. Note Obama is unique as he doesn't have a descendent that came to the US as a slave. Obama's Mother was a white American and his Father came to the US to go to College not as a slave. It will be hard to pin this down as how to attack Obama. It would be easier if he was just a regular African American.

Yes, the US is uptight about skin color. I guess the idiots worried about that forgot that Africans lead African countries.

Oh, at least the US does not have a monopoly on morons:

I saw that article a little earlier and laugh to myself.

I will say this about US and media of their hangups on Obama and about skin color:

In case people were asleep at the wheel, we had three WH cabinet members that broke the color line, Powell, Rice, and Fredo. All three were appointed by the Gerbil. And not a vast majority of folks or media went space city over that! Yet, they are "concerned" about Obama, biracial, that is running for President all of sudden. And yet, the media and most of the US are not concerned about Cynthia McKinney, who is a black woman running on the Green Party ticket. Word is out that alot of the Clinton women backers are flocking to her turf. McCain better watych out. So, there may be two black candidates on the ticket come November. I see no one talking that nor concern about that. This is all about fear of Obama not about race according to the media hype. Yes, there are people out there that still won't have a black or any minority running as President. That is true. But, people have to make a choice: have food on their table and roof over their head or another 4 years of Bush agenda. That is what is boils down to.

The media has made this Presidential race two legged. No, they are not looking at the Green Party, Libertian Party, and so on. This Presidential race is wide open for November and the GOP party has more problems. And McCain is not their strong candidate. So, their alternative is try to steal the election. And that is our job as American people to prevent that to happen.
