2nd Woman To Plead Guilty In Emperor Club Scandal

First it was Temeka Lewis and now Cecil Suwal pleaded guilty..

NEW YORK -- A second woman involved in the prostitution ring linked to former Gov. Eliot Spitzer is expected to plead guilty this week, her defense lawyer told WNBC.com.

Cecil Suwal, 23, will admit her role in helping run the operations of the Emperors Club VIP escort service, her lawyer said.

"She deeply regrets her actions," said her attorney Alberto Ebanks. "She is remorseful. She is contrite and she is determined to right her wrongs in a manner that is fair and just."

Suwal is accused of being a second booker for the ring. Last month, another booker, Tameka Rachelle Lewis pleaded guilty and agreed to cooperate with investigators as they decide whether to charge the former Governor.
Federal prosecutors are looking into whether Spitzer illegally disguised his wired payments to the escort service when he allegedly arranged to meet with prostitutes.

Suwal has said she worked for Mark Brener, 62, who is accused of having run the prostitution ring. Brener is also believed to be in plea negotiations with prosecutors at this time.

Spitzer resigned earlier this year after it was revealed he allegedly paid thousands of dollars to meet with prostitutes from Emperors Club VIP. It is unclear whether prosecutors plan to ask Suwal to cooperate as their investigation moves forward. A spokeswoman for US Attorney Michael Garcia declined to comment. A spokeswoman for Spitzer also did not comment.

While Suwal could face jail time, her attorney said he is hoping she receives a sentence that does not include incarceration.

"This is the first step in the process of putting this chapter of her life behind her," Ebanks said.
