State Police Lab Man Who Committed Suicide Feared Probe.

And the probe adds that the forensic scientist's deat is not linked to the Cuomo probe.. Smells real fishy...

May 24, 2008 -- ALBANY - A veteran State Police forensic scientist hanged himself yesterday under circumstances shockingly similar to the suicide of another state police official just eight days ago

Garry Veeder, 59, left a note in his Albany suburb home saying he was concerned about becoming a target of an internal probe regarding the handling of a high-profile case, the Albany Times Union reported.

But sources said Veeder, who recently put in his retirement papers, was not implicated in the investigation by Attorney General Andrew Cuomo, who is probing suspected political espionage by a rogue group of State Police officials.
Veeder's death comes eight days after Gary Berwick, a retired State Police inspector, was found by his daughter, hanged in his garage in the Albany area.

Veeder was found by his wife, also in his garage, at about 7:30 a.m. yesterday.
"She came out and screamed," a neighbor in Voorheesville said.

Sources said Veeder apparently overreacted - with tragic results - to a recently concluded report on a kind of forensic-science cheating called "dry-labbing."

The report looked into whether he did research on a State Police case but guessed at the results.

"It showed that he came to the right conclusion and it was asked of him for proof of how he did it. And he freaked," a high-ranking State Police official said.
State Police confirmed there was an internal-affairs investigation based on a recent audit of the lab. But sources said Veeder had nothing to fear as a result of the inquiry.

Veeder, who was with the State Police since 1977, had served as a civilian forensic scientist since 1981.

He earned $62,000 a year.

The trooper filed papers for retirement late last month and his final official day of work was to be next Friday.

His death comes three days after Berwick was buried.

A state official with knowledge of Veeder's death said, "At least initially, there's no obvious connection between this and the Berwick incident, besides the method."

Berwick had denied to friends that he did anything wrong but was described as upset that the Dirty Tricks Scandal unfolded on his watch.

Meanwhile, Daniel Wiese, a central figure in Cuomo's investigation, was fired from his post yesterday as state Power Authority inspector general.

No explanation was given.

There will be more employees involved in the crime wave of former Gov. Pataki. Look there was so much going on in Pataki's 4 term as Governor of New York. Yes most likely dead bodies. These guys are killing themselves because if they spoke up they would be killed anyway. Pataki did a great job at covering up and with the GOP running the USA he was free to do what ever he wanted. When the truth comes out New Yorkers will think Spitzer was a Saint compared to Pataki. Rudy and Pataki robbed New York blind. Like the White House took control of the courts and the DOJ, Pataki brought the Police Department. In NY it's easy to pay off the police with extra cash, as it's been done before by the Mafia. If only the Republicans didn't want to steal the Governors job Pataki would have never got caught. But no some idiot heard Spitzer hired a prostitute and ran with it. Only to find out other Wealthy Americans, Foreign Leaders and even a former Prime Minister of England were clients. What to do what to do. Now the door is open and can't be closed. Rudy was smart to get out of the country. When his crimes come out he just might stay in Poland rather then go to jail in the USA.
