BOSTON (Reuters) - General Electric Co looking to sell its appliance unit in an auction that could bring in $5 billion to $8 billion, The Wall Street Journal reported on its Web site on Wednesday.

Yes I saw the GE sale, yes when people are loosing thier homes, college kids move home with Mom and Dad after graduation, there is not a need for household items. I fear, and I am sure GE does as well that their big appliances could be in trouble next. Yep when the can opener breaks people will buy a manual one for a fraction of the cost, small appliances are luxury items that people can mix by hand, chop etc.
