CHICAGO - President Bush is now former Gov. George Ryan's best hope of getting out of federal prison before his 6{-year racketeering sentence is up, defense attorneys say.
Ryan struck out Tuesday in the U.S. Supreme Court. Without commenting, the court refused to consider his claim that he didn't get a fair trial.
With a stroke of the pen, however, Bush could do the same thing that he did for I. Lewis "Scooter" Libby and open the prison doors for the 74-year-old Ryan by commuting his sentence to time served.
That's the former governor's best hope now, his attorneys say.

"We recognize that the judicial process has come to an end for Governor Ryan and there will be no more court review," former Gov. James R. Thompson told a news conference. "We think that the next appropriate step is to ask the president of the United States for executive clemency."

Look it could happen again with this group. Crime pays if your a GOP. I'm still shocked over Bush changes Judge Walton's order of jail for Libby. With no Legal System in place anything can happen. I've seen a fixed Supreme Court, paid jurors, tainted Grand Jury, Judge with a computer on the bench making sure his Government contract money went in before he give a Gov. his sentence, AG lied 70 plus time under oath, White House employees in a hearing drugged up, AG who files complains and so much more anything can happen with this Criminal Administration. Ryan's best shot is to get Bush to do him a favor.
The Gerbil will probably spring Gov. Orange Jumpsuit right before he leaves office.
You might be right Mr. Kitty but there will have to be alot of GOP friends to get the get out of jail free card. If the Gerbil leaves some in there you just never know. We have Duke " Top Gun" Cunningham and my favorite little Jackie Abramoff. Now don't forget the Bugman, dollar bill Jefferson and so many others who crimes haven't come to light yet. Karl must get complete protection and then there's the fruit picker aka Judge aka Attorney General Al Gonzales. Which brings us back to Scooter Libby who still has crimes he committed pending. Then it's the matter of Seal vs Seal against Karl Rove that Bush has to dismiss.
I always know when a person doesn't know the Legal System. When I hear a person say Pat Fitzgerald didn't indict someone it's a clear sign they know nothing. Now only a Grand Jury can indict a person when they find probable cause. It's like general law 101, but alot of TV shows tell the same story if they have time.

Ryan would have to wait in line with the rest of the criminals for commutation. The Gerbil has a list longer than tiolet paper for his criminal buddies wanting to be spared such as The Bugman DeLay, Tubby McTreason Rove, and so on.
