Officials: Obama begins top secret Veep search.

Rawstory:

Democratic officials say Barack Obama has begun a top-secret search for a running mate.

Democratic officials said Thursday the party's likely nominee has asked former Fannie Mae CEO Jim Johnson to begin vetting potential vice presidential picks. Johnson did the same job for Democratic nominees John Kerry in 2004 and Walter Mondale in 1984.

The Democratic officials spoke on a condition of anonymity about a process that the campaign wants to keep quiet.

Vice presidential searches are usually closely held secrets, but Obama campaign officials say the effort is being handled by a particularly tight circle of advisers.

The campaign also does not want to discuss the effort because they are still engaged in a fading primary campaign against Hillary Rodham Clinton.

My Dad always said don't take people for granted this is a lesson Obama will soon learn. He is moving forward without the primary being over and allowing voters to have their choice. Now the surprise might be that Hillary's supporters don't vote or vote for the green party. When a person is told they really don't care what you say or think and you have to do as your told it usually doesn't work out well. John Kerry and the man who handled his campaign are moving ahead and have said they will not put Hillary in the selection. Howard Dean and Nancy Pelosi will have to answer to the Democratic Party why the Republicans won with McCain and Karl Rove didn't have to play any tricks for him to win. But Senator Obama will learn and grow from this experience and let's hope with McCain staying the Bush/Cheney course for four more years, there's enough of the USA to recover. One would think after two election stolen by the Republican Party the Democrats would have learned something but I guess not. Senator Obama will learn and continue as a Senator to Illinois and maybe with more years of experience he will get the top job. I laughed when he praised Hillary and said she was a great example to his daughters. Well at lease his daughters know qualifications and experience don't mean anything if they choose to run for President. History has shown Shirley Chisholm and Jesse Jackson run for US President and now we will see Obama got even closer and maybe one day we'll see a Black candidate with the experience, wisdom and qualifications to complete the job. As for a woman ever becoming President I don't see it any time soon as we will surely move backwards as we're done in the past 7 years. Our brightest young woman might take their values overseas where they can get equal rights and positions based on experience as they will never get it in the United States of America.

Yeah, I listened to women in Illinois who were at a fundraiser for Hillary on the radio and many of them think she's been treated unfairly by the party and the media. And I agree. It's downright shameful.
The Clintons have had plenty of right wing smearing.
Though I sure was surprised to see Hillary point out to her audience that Karl Rove said she'd be the better candidate!!! Well, he probably said that just because he believes that if she were the nominee McCain could be her more easily. I could not believe that she actually quoted Rove! That was a real political mistake and she bought into it! All they need to do is reignite the Hate Hillary rhetoric! That she decided to run for President in spite of that makes me feel she is one tough cookie. Knowing how bad it is going to be and still running for office.
That is really too bad that they are eliminating Hillary as a Vice-Presidential possibility. I sure hope that's wrong.
I miss Shirley Chisholm, Unbought and Unbossed!
And I too hope we see candidates in the future who have that kind of spine and character.
I don't think anyone is going to be so disgusted with the Democrats as to not vote or vote Green, though I do know a lot of people back in California who are way cynical about the process.
McCain is getting up there in years.. and as we get through the summer into the fall, I think everyone will see that he's not the person who is going to be IT. It'll be obvious.
