McSame Tells Ellen DeGeneres: You Shouldn’t Have The Right To Get Married.

Thinkprogress:

Yesterday, Sen. John McCain (R-AZ) taped an interview with Ellen DeGeneres, which airs today. Ellen, who recently announced that she plans to take advantage of the California Supreme Court’s recent gay marriage ruling and wed her longtime girlfriend, actress Portia di Rossi, pressed McCain on his stance on gay marriage.
McCain said that he opposes gay marriage, but said couples should be able to allowed to enter into legal agreements:
McCAIN: Well, my thoughts are that I think people should be able to enter into legal agreements, and I think that is something that we should encourage, particularly in the case of insurance and other areas, decisions that have to be made. I just believe in the unique status of marriage between man and woman. And I know that we have a respectful disagreement on that issue.
DEGENERES: Yeah, I mean, I think that it is looked at, and some people are saying that blacks and women did not have the right to vote. Women just got the right to vote in 1920, blacks didn’t have the right to vote until 1870, and it just feels like there’s this old way of thinking that we’re not all the same. We are all the same people. All of us. You’re no different than I am. Our love is the same.”
The audience was largely silent for McCain’s remarks, but cheered loudly after Ellen spoke.

It took so long for Blacks to get equal rights and it isn't been completed yet. I feel bad that Americans who say they believe in God show so much hate still. America has come a long way with a ways to go before every American can be treated equally. I saw so much hate during the 50's and 60's that I wouldn't wont any person to be treated like that. I told a friend that if I believed in not giving gays equal rights I'd be as bad as those who said I shouldn't have equal rights. Hate is Hate no matter who the person is. What's surprising is that the USA wants gays to pay taxes while denying them rights.

I wonder if Dick Cheney's daughter will come to California to get married now that it's legal. Will George and Laura come to the wedding?

McSame is going for the GOP with this, he is sure to get some GOPs scared out of the woodwork to come out and vote, yes he is going to get some of these right wing nut jobs (GOP, far right) out to vote with this one, he is putting the fear into these folks that gays might get more rights, so crawl out from under your rocks and vote to keep the anti-gay GOP in office.

I wonder what novilist Lynne Cheney thinks of the California decision? Will she be writing more books and have more book signings starting in CA?
