ALBANY - Former Gov. George Pataki is outraged at allegations that there is a rogue unit of investigators within the New York State Police.
In an exclusive interview with NewsChannel 13, Pataki talked about state Attorney General Andrew Cuomo's investigation into claims about the existence of a covert political operations unit.
"There never was. My time in office there was nothing like that.
There was no rogue unit, there was no political spying, there was no inappropriate keeping of records. We wouldn't have tolerated it, let alone directed it," the former governor said.
Pataki says these allegations tarnish the reputation of one of the finest law enforcement agencies in the world.
"It's wrong. It's not a reflection on them, it's a reflection on the Spitzer administration and those in high office who may have given them orders to follow that were improper. I don't know that that happened. I don't know what happened after January 1st of 2007, but I can tell you that these are fine people devoted to protecting us and when I left office there were no finer individuals and no finer law enforcement institution in the world than the New York State Police," he insisted.
The investigation began after it became known that the Spitzer administration asked the state police for records of Senate Majority Leader Joe Bruno's use of state aircraft. Bruno blasted the Spitzer administration for what became known as Troopergate.

Gov. Pataki knows he was committing criminal acts during his 4 term as Gov. in New York. With the set up on Spitzer it's now coming to light. It's so corrupt that a cop killed himself as he knew the truth. Republicans have been robbing the State of New York for years. Ask Pataki why not a dime went to the Police/Fireman/ Citizen's didn't get a dime of the 9/11 health care money given by the US Government. Pataki/Rudy and friends pocket all the money.
On a side note. Mrs. Spitzer rocked the house and looks like a beauty queen. She makes the prostitutes, First Lady and future First Ladies like a has dud. For a woman of her age she even made woman turn their heads and go to the ladies room to talk. I guess Ashley now has nothing on her and Ashley should hope she looks half that good at Mrs. Spitzer's age. All I can say is You Go Girl!!!
