Bush: A Flag, a Prayer, But No GI Bill .

From President Bush's radio address yesterday:

This Memorial Day, I ask all Americans to honor the sacrifices of those who have served you and our country. One way to do so is by joining in a moment of remembrance that will be marked across our country at 3:00 p.m. local time. At that moment, Major League Baseball games will pause, the National Memorial Day parade will halt, Amtrak trains will blow their whistles, and buglers in military cemeteries will play Taps. You can participate by placing a flag at a veteran's grave, taking your family to the battlefields where freedom was defended, or saying a silent prayer for all the Americans who were delivered out of the agony of war to meet their Creator.

Their bravery has preserved the country we love so dearly.

One moment of silence. Paused baseball games. A parade halt. Flags and prayers. Train whistles and buglers. Brings a tear to the eye, a catch to the throat, doesn't it?

All the pious trappings of a national holiday, but no new GI bill:

Like Bush really cares about our troops. I love how Americans make a fuss over Bush as he laughs at how stupid people are. Bush was a coward when it came time to protect the United States, his Daddy took him home safe as the other soldiers went to War. Cheney got the now famous 5 deferments and then cried about his wife having a baby so he couldn't serve in the Military to protect our Country. I lost over one half of the boys in my graduation class but not one of the current Law Makers who were called to serve during the Vietnam War served this country. It's a same the same men who wouldn't serve now have no problem sending young men/woman to invade Iraq and die for Iraq oil.
