Rev. Wright Gives First Interview to Bill Moyers.

TPM:

Jeremiah Wright had some tough words for his media detractors in an interview with Bill Moyers -- his first since YouTubes of his sermons put him in the national spotlight -- and some backhanded remarks about his friend and parishioner Barack Obama, too.

From an advance transcript of the yet-to-be-broadcast interview:

Moyers: You performed his wedding ceremony. You baptized his two children. You were, for 20 years, his spiritual counsel. He has said that. And, yet, he, in that speech at Philadelphia, had to say some hard things about you. How did those words...how did it go down with you when you heard Barack Obama say those things?

Wright: It went down very simply. He's a politician, I'm a pastor.

We speak to two different audiences. And he says what he has to say as a politician. I say what I have to say as a pastor. But they're two different worlds.

I do what I do. He does what politicians do. So that what happened in Philadelphia where he had to respond to the sound bytes, he responded as a politician.

Wright also had this to say about the suggestion that he is the one who has miscommunicated his message:

When something is taken like a sound bite for a political purpose and put constantly over and over again, looped in the face of the public, that's not a failure to communicate. Those who are doing that are communicating exactly what they want to do, which is to paint me as some sort of fanatic or as the learned journalist from the New York Times called me, a "wackadoodle."

Sometimes it's better to read history or be told about what happen in the best then to have lived it. Rev. Wright like many older African Americans lived the years of the 50's and 60's when the country was struggling with equality. Like the years of slavery many want to believe it wasn't that bad or change the history. I have a newspaper from 1945 that shows the Atomic bomb that hit Japan, it was real. Millions of innocent men/woman/children died by the bomb the US used. I saw a man hanging from a tree while visiting the south and I saw the signs of black/white. I saw the horror of my country in it's dark years. I realize it's the past but listening to the current Law Makers I understand some didn't learn. To dismiss the topic of racism and who we all are as Americans must be brought to the front. We see today how the Bush Administration has used torture, murder, illegal invasion and even robbery that the future generations will have to admit happen. Lies and cover up will always come out. I watched JFK being murdered on TV and even as a child I knew it was my country that played a major role. When we were told Oswald did it I asked my Dad how stupid do they think we are. The distance was to far away to hit that many people in different directions. Senator Specter explained it as what is now known as the Harry Potter magic bullet. yes one bullet went all over the place up down around and then back again in and out around and then in and out again. What was never explained was there was one shot and Kennedy was hit first and part of the bullet was still in his head. Now explain that one to me like I'm a 5 year old. Even in school we all agreed the adults and the Government lied.
