Danica Patrick earns her wings. Congrats!
Motegi, Japan (Sports Network) - Danica Patrick finally answered her critics by capturing the rain-delayed Japan Indy 300 from the Twin Ring Motegi circuit in Japan. The No.7 Andretti Green Racing driver passed Helio Castroneves with three laps to go and crossed the finish line a comfortable 5.8594 seconds ahead of the field.
The victory was Patrick's first and the first by a woman in the IndyCar career. It was her 50th IndyCar start.
"It's a long time coming," said a crying Patrick. "Thank you to Andretti Green and to all my teammates...finally."
"I'm so happy for her, I'm so proud of her," said team owner Michael Andretti. "It was always a question of when not if she was going to win. She did a really good job sticking to the numbers and keeping up her speed...I love this girl, she's a first-class individual."
Scott Dixon, Dan Wheldon and Tony Kanaan completed the top-five.

Danica like most woman who have made history in the reason years didn't get support from other woman. She had to do it on her own. As woman today attack woman reaching for the top like Hillary, American woman try to put them down. So much has changed in the struggle for Woman's rights. We see how Danica, Martha now Hillary have to go it alone. But like all great people when they do succeed here come other woman like leaches saying they were supportive. Danica has reached out to woman all over America with no success. More of her support has come from men as they recognized her talent. We see woman put down more by woman then men today. I'm glad I taught my sons to respect woman not just as woman but for their talent. Now Danica has made History but it will be written this happen with no Woman's Rights support. I'm glad I have followed this remarkable young ladies career.
My Dad always said when your struggling you have few friends but once you have succeeded you have many friends you're never seen before.
