Bhutto's death: two charged in terrorism court Two men accused in the assassination of the former prime minister and opposition leader Benazir Bhutto have appeared in a special terrorism court. Wearing black hoods and with hands in cuffs, Sher Zaman, 32, and Aitzaz Shah, 15, were led into court on Saturday morning. The public and news media were barred from the proceedings, but lawyers at the court familiar with the case said the two were formally charged.

Barnstorming Obama plans to pick Republicans for cabinet Obama is hoping to appoint cross-party figures to his cabinet such as Chuck Hagel, the Republican senator for Nebraska and an opponent of the Iraq war, and Richard Lugar, leader of the Republicans on the Senate foreign relations committee. Senior advisers confirmed that Hagel, a highly decorated Vietnam war veteran and one of McCain’s closest friends in the Senate, was considered an ideal candidate for defence secretary. Some regard the outspoken Republican as a possible vice-presidential nominee although that might be regarded as a "stretch".

Ga. House OKs seizing vehicles from illegal immigrants A bill that would allow police to seize cars from illegal immigrants was approved by the House Thursday. Bill sponsor Rep. James Mills (R-Gainesville) repeatedly told House members Thursday the measure would protect Georgia citizens from the "epidemic" of illegal immigration.
