A top Senate aide said yesterday that the White House has pledged to make more progress on Democratic nominations. Democrats circulated a list indicating that 16 of their recommendations for positions were pending before the White House.
In return for the White House promise, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid agreed to bring Mr. Filip's nomination to the floor immediately. Mr. Filip, a 41-year-old U.S. district judge in Chicago, was confirmed unanimously yesterday.
