Wilkes vs. Siegelman...One month vs. seven months..
Hmmm.... Wilkes was released because of unlikely being a flight risk:
An order dated Thursday by the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals says Brent Wilkes is unlikely to flee and poses no danger to anyone if released from federal prison.
Here is the initial docketing order/schedule of Wilkes:

On the other hand, Siegleman's attorney was never given the transcript after Siegleman's conviction which is needed for an appeal and was withheld by Judge Fuller. Siegleman had been fighting since September 2007 for an appeal and was denied. Here is the court document from Siegleman's website:
