It was a great speech and history lesson. If I were to vote for a speaker who made since and could hold your attention Obama is the man. I still feel Hillary has more experience in running the country. I was glad Obama made public the Media's part of this mess. I did live in the 50's 60's and I was blessed to live in a community and school system that wouldn't allow racism. My Dad taught us to treat people as equal. My first experience being called the N word was when I went to my first job interview. I felt a way I have never felt before in my life. I was lucky my Dad quickly explained to me and helped me get through one of the worse moments of my life. With love from neighbors, family and friends I never felt that way ever again in my life.

Thank you SP Biloxi for finding the full length video of this tape! I don't think a lot of people actually heard or read or saw the whole speech! The chopped up coverage doesn't do the speech justice.

Air Jackie, I, too was taught to give respect to all people, especially black people by my family. My grandmother was very respectful to our black postman and I was glad for Girl Scouts that did the same thing. Later on, on a trip to Europe and later in college, people always thought it would be fun to put this feisty Chicago girl in with young ladies from Alabama, who wouldn't dream of sharing clothing with black girls.

I am having a hard time deciding between Hilary and Obama. I felt because the economy is the way it is--no thanks to Bush -- I felt Hilary would be the one, but I guess Obama is a policy wonk as well. It makes me wish that they could work together and be on the same ticket. They are both strong personalities with important constituencies that neither wants to give up to be the number two, the Vice-President.

Thank you, Jackie, for your many comments which are always right on the money.

Thanks you Anon for sharing your story. I am glad that Obama came forth to speak about race. More importantly to share who he is and where he is going. The talking heads and nimrods and WH have filled the public's heads with nothing but pure ignorance of the multi-cultures in the U.S and abroad. Right now, we are dealing with the worst economy in this country. This is not a black problem, or a white problem, or a Hispanic problem and so on. This is an United States of America problem. There is no color line to the problems that we are facing in this country. It is time to talk about race and other concerns in this country and come together as a nation to solve these problems that have been supressed under the Bush Administration for 7 years.
