David Walker: “Well, those days are gone."

Bush on economy: It is slowdown not a recession. Walker certainly has a different point of view. A blast from the past:

I caught an item on 60 Minutes some time ago last year about David Walker, the comptroller general of the United States, that deserves a little more attention. From CBS:

[Walker]calls it a fiscal wake up tour, and he is telling civic groups, university forums and newspaper editorial boards that the U.S. has spent, promised, and borrowed itself into such a deep hole it will be unable to climb out if it doesn’t act now. As Walker sees it, the survival of the republic is at stake.

“What’s going on right now is we’re spending more money than we make…we’re charging it to credit card…and expecting our grandchildren to pay for it. And that’s absolutely outrageous,” he told the editorial board of the Seattle Post Intelligencer.

You have heard this before, from Ross Perot 15 years ago. You might have even thought the problem had been solved, when President Clinton announced,

“Tonight, I come before you to announce that the federal deficit … will be simply zero.”

“Well, those days are gone. We’ve gone from surpluses to huge deficits and our long range situation is much worse,” Walker says

Yes he did say that-and Bushco shut him up quick telling him that was a "political view" vs. reality!

Thanks SPB I remember him on 60 minutes and he just out right told the truth. No surprise he walked out of that job. I was surprised he wasn't fired after the show was aired, knowing he was the Department Head. Now he allowed Americans to know what was going to happen with the plan the Bush Administration had to place, yet I notice no one bothered to listen maybe because 63 Million were watching American Idol and Dancing with the Stars. Right now the Office of Accountability is doing nothing yet still getting paid.

As Americans can see we have a National debt of 10 Trillion dollars and the dollar is worth 65 cents. Now if Americans paid attention they would have stopped this but as it stands it will get worse.
