On Feb. 23, the University Club will be giving former Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld — who became a member in November — its “highly coveted William Howard Taft Public Service Award.” The event — which sold out “within 48 hours of the first announcement” — will also feature Tony Snow and his band, “Beats Workin.”

the neocons never cease to amaze. it's just disgusting to think that such a man could be honored for doing a war on the cheap. cheapening american lives and filling his buddies pockets.
I agree, Markie. After reading the Red Cross findings on the prisoners in Abu Ghraib before and after they warned Rummy and DOD, Rummy should be given an arrest warrant, an orange jumpsuit, and a one way ticket to Abu Ghraib to serve there.
Interesting that the United States honors a man who allowed by lying 4000 plus soldiers to die and thousands more injured for life for greed and lies by the White House. So much for rewards these days now the criminals are rewarded and the honest people are condemned.
And, the award is named for someone who never left the food table long enough to accomplish everything to his best potential . . .
