Rep. Lowery Denies Quid Pro Quo with Lobbyist.

Former Rep. Bill Lowery (R-Calif.), whose relationship with Rep. Jerry Lewis (R-Calif.) helped trigger a federal probe of the veteran lawmaker, continues to donate money to Lewis' leadership PAC despite the ongoing investigation. Lowery, now a lobbyist with Innovative Federal Strategies, attended a dinner sponsored by the Future Leaders Political Action Committee, Lewis' leadership PAC, in November, and he later donated $2,500 to the committee, according to Federal Election Commission records and Lewis' office. Lowery was a partner in the firm of Copeland Lowery Jacquez Denton & White back in 2006 when the Justice Department began looking into his ties with Lewis.

Lowery, who served on the powerful Appropriations Committee with Lewis, had lobbying clients who steered hundreds of thousands of dollars into Lewis' campaign coffers while at the same time winning hundreds of millions in earmarks for those clients from Lewis.

Lewis has vehemently denied any link between campaign contributions and his earmarks.
