Vastleft at Corrente:
On February 5, 2003, Secretary of State Colin Powell addressed the United Nations to rally support for an invasion of Iraq.
His presentation contained little substance and numerous obvious flaws, and the international community was unimpressed.
America’s mainstream media, however, declared it “compelling.”
For a nation living in the ghostly shadow of the twin towers, the media’s Good Warmaking seal of approval was enough to keep that treasonous question — “why?” — relatively unheard.
The costs — in lives, money, reputation, and more — of this war of whim are nearly incalculable.
This year’s fifth anniversary coincides with a Super Tuesday primary like no other. As Americans across the country go to the polls, a couple of hundred thousand American troops, contractors, and mercenaries are still stewing in America’s longest and most ill-conceived war.

Yes that Day of Shame also allowed the World Leaders to know the United States of America will liar in their faces. Powell was one of the most trusted Leaders and he isn't dumb and knew he was made the puppet. Question is how much did he get paid to lie to the World. As a Military man he allowed thousands of soldiers to die and thousands injured based on the lies he told. Now I hope the dead soldiers can forgive him for taking their young lives away. Children will grow up without their Moms and Dads because Powell was more interested in the money he was paid to lie then in the United States of America. What a legacy. Powell is now working Senator Obama like John Kerry and Ted Kennedy are doing. I guess Powell knows Obama isn't experienced enough to know when he's played well Renzo did a great job at that. I wonder what other Bush Appointees will be put in positions under Obama if he wins. I know Obama speaks highly of Connie Rice, maybe he will appoint her as Secretary of State again. Dick Cheney is his cousin and family is family. Dick might have a Cabinet position in Obama's White House. Ya you never know it could happen. The first bill Obama introduced to protect the people of Illinois he changed it to please the Bush/Cheney team. So never say never it could happen again.
