Thanks to Jackie for helping our troops. In Illinois (or maybe all over?) they changed the rules. The local families who usually invited the military from the naval base (yeah, don't forget we have Lake Michigan, it counts as water) were told they couldn't unless they were part of an organization. They all joined the Kiwainas (or however that is spelled). So the troops got a nice Thanksgiving anyway.

Can't invite military unless they are part of "an organization?"

Must be a Navy thing, the Guard encourages community participation...

Good pictures SPB, now make it happen LOL

Thanks Mr. Kitty but I'm a little fish compared to those who work full time in organizations like prissypatriot. I was asked by the Clinton campaign and said yes. Prissy is at it working hard everyday. Those are the people who we should honor for action.

My dad was stationed at the Great Lakes now that report you gave is a shock. So sad what our country has come to. All the talk about support our troops as our Law Makers go home and don't care about the Military families who are left out.

Mr. Kitty do they still have that shopping thing at the lake in Chicago where the boats once docked. Peaches and I visited the area and I was surprised to see it was like a flee Market. Totally different then what my Dad described to us all our lives.

Oh my Jackie, that is Navy Pier, the current Mayor Daley had that re done to one of the biggest tourist attractions (trap) in the city, you can take cruise boat dinner/lunch tours, other boat tours, there is a grand ballroom that is used for the floral show, etc. Navy Pier I don't go there much, way too crowded and expensive, plus I would rather be on the South Side of town, plenty to do there.
