Play "Stuff Happens" make Canadian premiere in Toronto.

TORONTO - A dramatic stage play documenting the early days of the Bush administration through its invasion of Iraq is coming to Canada.

"Stuff Happens," which has already gained critical praise in London and New York, will have its Canadian premiere at Berkeley Street Theatre Downstairs in Toronto on Feb. 29.

The show, from playwright David Hare, "blends documented public-record information and theatrical invention to create a riveting history play that happens to centre on recent history," says a release.

American figures portrayed include President George W. Bush, his wife Laura, Vice-President Dick Cheney, Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and the man she replaced, Colin Powell, former Defence Secretary Donald Rumsfeld and former CIA director George Tenet.

Ousted and executed Iraqi leader Saddam Hussein is also in the production, of course, alongside former British prime minister Tony Blair, former United Nations' chief weapons inspector Hans Blix and former French premier Dominique de Villepin.

"Stuff Happens" premiered in London in September 2004 and moved on to New York where it ran for several months last year and received a Drama Desk Award for best ensemble.

Joel Greenberg will direct and co-produce the Toronto production, which is being put on by Studio 180 and includes an acclaimed cast of theatre veterans.

Barry Flatman will play the leading role of Bush alongside Hardee T. Lineham in the role of Cheney.

David Fox will portray Rumsfeld, Yanna McIntosh will fill the role of Rice, Nigel Shawn Williams will play Powell and Andrew Gillies has been cast as Blair.

The play is set to run until March 29.
